The Secret to Getting What You Want!

There is only one way to get what you want.

Only one.

And I'll break it into 3 easy steps.

Don't scroll any further if you're not ready for it!

Do you want to know how the secret?

This isn't "The Secret"....the famous book/Netflix movie with the large cult following...

This is the one thing you need to get what you want.

Get out a pen and paper.

Or open a word document or Google doc.

Or get the note app ready on your cell.

Step 1: Answer this question!

What do I want?

Well? What do you want?

Don't know? What if you did know!

What if you did know what you wanted? What would your answer be then?!

Want a baby, a thousand dollars, a beach house, a raise, to quit smoking, to lose 30 pounds, to get the wife or husband of your dreams?

Be honest. Stop lying to yourself.

Think you're just a janitor or just a secretary or just a nurse or just a lawyer?

What if you didn't have to be any of those things and you could actually be a horse trainer or farmer or wood worker or artist or interior designer?

What do you really want?

What is that goal you've been writing down every year since you were twelve?

Did you always want a dog, a pony, ballet slippers, a backyard pool?

Write it down.

Step 2: Ask for it!

Ask and you will receive!

This cliche phrase goes way back to the writing of the Bible - so you know there is wisdom here!

The key is to ask the right person!

I will never forget the first time I made a big ask of a big wig who intimated me and the big yes I received in return! Funding for my project through a simple10 minute meeting that I lost sleep over for days in advance, that seemed too easy! I was floored that I just had to ask!

Asking someone else for something can be tough, but asking ourselves for something can be even harder!

If you're a caregiver you are able to give, give, give to others all day. Giving to yourself brings on immense guilt and shame. Learn to ask yourself and give yourself permission to get what you want.

Step 3: Pursue

Don't quit once your goal is in view!

Did you ever slow down coming to the finish line in track and field?

Maybe you repeatedly self-sabotage as a protection mechanism.

Quit smoking, restart at the first social event you encounter.

Lose weight, regain at the first free cake you encounter.

When you really want something - cut yourself off from the goals you don't want to reach.

If your goal is to be happy - stop seeking opportunities to wallow in self-pity.

If your goal is to control your anger - stop making excuses for blowing up unnecessarily.

Answer - Ask - Pursue

Don't let anything hold you back.

In six months you could be in a completely different space spiritually, mentally, physically and financially.

Decide where you want to be.

Make a plan.

Ask [the right person] for what you want.

Keep working on yourself.
