Top 5 Tips to Get Un-stuck!

I had a conversation this morning with someone I absolutely adore. It broke my heart when she admitted she was stuck in the same spot she was in a year ago!

We had a conversation about this time last year and talked about how disappointed she was in her career path. She was stressed, unhappy, not making what she was worth, and the career path she thought she wanted was just not turning out the way she hoped it would.

This list is dedicated to all of you who feel stuck!

1. Admit You're Stuck!

The first step to resolving any problem is to acknowledge it! Not only acknowledge it, but accept it. Not only accept it, but OWN it!

Yes, you are stuck! Yes, you feel awful about it! Yes, you want to do something about it!

You can eat a pint of ice cream while contemplating the meaning of the universe and staying stuck!

OR

You can make peace with where you are today and decide that you will no longer accept the status-quo!

2. Accomplish Something Right Now!

Make a cup of coffee. Call your mom or best friend. Take a shower.

Do something small, but productive that makes you feel good. Then, give yourself a pat on the back.

Accomplishing small goals or performing small tasks is an immediate energy boost and can push you out of your funk!

3. Practice Being Grateful!

Many people get stuck in a negative mindset.

They feel unhappy with their job, their bodies, their partners, their house, their car...and so on.

A simple way to go from negative to positive is identify 10 things you are grateful for and write them down. Write down 5 things you are grateful for that you already have and 5 things that you will be grateful to have in the future.

Writing a "Grateful List" reminds us of all of the great things we already have or could have in the future and sets our inner dialogue down the path of positivity. Instead of focusing on what you DON'T have or what is WRONG with you - you will be able to appreciate the resources you DO have and the things you CAN have in your life.

Keep a Grateful Journal daily - practice makes perfect!

4. Identify your Goals and Write them by Hand!

Writing by hand is superior to typing when it comes to memory and setting our unconscious mind loose. This technique gives a natural edge to accomplishing goals and getting unstuck.

I can't tell you the numbers of times I've written a goal list and returned to it months later to find I had accomplished most of the goals without effort. My brain automatically pushed me forward.

5. Get an Accountability Buddy!

You never have to go it alone.

Find someone who wants to see you move forward and is going to cheer you on every step of the way! This might be a friend, a family member, a mentor, or a coach who you hire.

Set aside 1 hour a week to meet. Put it in your calendar and show up!

If you find your accountability buddy isn't a good fit for you after a couple weeks, don't give up! Identify what you really need from your support system and seek that out.

Bonus tip: Help Someone Else Get Un-stuck!

Often through helping others with their problems we are able to shed light on our own! Reach out and ask a friend what they're struggling with and help them get un-stuck!

If you liked these tips then share them with your family and friends on social media!
